I really love listening to Dr. Larry but I have to point this out. That picture that is shown was taken in 1968 by a photographer named Danny Lyon. And if you google "texas penitentiary danny lyon heat exhaustion" you will see that picture. And if you zoom in you can visibly see the ice on the man's chest. And it didn't click into my head until watching this and going back to make sure what i was going to say was correct, that the pictures were taken in 1967 and 68. Dr. Larry said he didn't get to prison until 70 or 71, i don't remember off-hand which one. The photographer who took the pictures published a book called Conversations with the Dead. He was given permission to go to 7 different prisons and document life in a Texas Penitentiary. The inmates thought he was just a regular inmate whose job was just to take photos. If you Google "Danny Lyon Texas Penitentiary " you'll be able to see most of the pictures he took or purchase the book itself. There's another photographer named Bruce Jackson who took Texas Penitentiary photos in the 70s. His pictures are also available online to view. He also has a book called Wake Up Dead Men and Inside the Wire. A google search of Bruce Jackson Texas penitentiary will give his pictures. Also, if you search on RUclips "songs from texas penitentiary Bruce Jackson" he also recorded the black convicts work songs they used to sing while working.
